How we hire new swappians
Our hiring is based on these principles:
We are committed to as fast process as possible, giving honest feedback, and painting a transparent picture about Swappie, the team, the role, and our expectations.
We ensure objectivity and highest standards in our hiring processes by high-quality process design, involving several swappians in the hiring panel, comparing candidates always against the role descriptions (never against each other!).
We work systematically to remove unconscious biases and recruit keeping our DEI manifesto in mind.
We use different channels to advertise our open vacancies, e.g. public job ads or headhunting. However, we treat all candidates with the same respect and evaluate them with the same criteria, no matter from which source they came to our hiring pipeline from.

We do get it - applying for work IS hard work
We recognize that our hiring process might take several hours from you, but in return we believe that when eventually we are sitting in the offer table together, you are equipped with a comprehensive image of:
What Swappie does
How Swappie works
What is Swappie culture like
What your day-to-day will look like
What is expected of you
What kind of impact you will make
Who you’ll be working with
How you will be lead
How you will fit in. -
Why?
We spend a lot of time in getting to know you, because we are looking for that win-win situation:
We want you to thrive here and make impact with us for a long time.
We wish you will not be surprised with anything during your first days and months here, but actually feel that your experience aligns perfectly with what you expected and signed up for.
How to apply - our tips!

What we want to see in your CV:
Name
Contact details (email and preferably also phone number)
- Work history (from most recent to earliest)
Dates
Name of the company
Job title
Tasks/responsibilities within the job
Skills (language skills, IT-skills etc.)
Education & other certifications
What should be left out:
Listing irrelevant job experience
Embellishing the truth
Facts unrelated to work, e.g. your height, weight, age, ethnicity, references, religious affiliations, military training or civil status.
Hobbies (if not relevant for the position).
Picture is not necessary
Terminology that is specific to your employer/industry/field of expertise (us recruiters are not experts in everything, even though that would be super cool!)

What we'd love to read from your cover letter
Why would you want to work at Swappie and in this particular job
What motivates you
What you'll bring to the role you are applying for
If CV is like the “ingredient list” of “Product You”, consider cover letter to be the advertisement of “You”.
Try to answer why should we pick “Product You” compared to other products, whose ingredients list might be fairly similar :) -
What to expect from our interviews:
- We will ask a lot of questions that start with
“Describe how you …”
“Give me an example of a situation when…”
“Think of a situation when you…”
We are prepared to answer your questions too! The recruiter can answer your general questions about Swappie, about our business, culture, people, compensation and working conditions. The Hiring Manager is the one from whom to ask more detailed questions about the role, KPI’s, expectations, team dynamics, their leadership style etc.
We want to keep the discussion relaxed and conversational, but we will not shy away from the difficult questions either
It is a two-way road, not an inquisition: We see interviews as a way for you to figure out too, if you’d love working here and if you feel confident in succeeding in the role
If you have made it to an interview, your skills and experience already match our requirements - you can relax and bring your confident self in the discussion!

Should I use AI when applying?
Definitely you can and should use AI as your assistant when applying!
AI is excellent in personalising your CV and application to match the job you are interested in, e.g. let AI analyse your fit for the role by pointing out your key skills, qualifications, and responsibilities that match the job description. It can also make recommendations on how to edit your resume to make it more easy to read and understand the main points.
Note: With this you must be careful that AI will not twist the truth - we will find out any made up skills / work experiences during the interviews.
AI can help you create professional, targeted cover letter. You can provide the job description and your resume, and AI can create a draft that highlights your relevant experience and enthusiasm for the role and company. But remember to personalize the final version to ensure it sounds like you. We can easily spot cover letters that are completely AI written and, in all honesty, we are not very motivated in reading them (as they are usually identical, word for word).
AI is also an excellent coach to practice the interviews with! Let AI interview you according to the job description and ask it to use both behavioral and technical questions that are also industry specific. Later AI can analyze your answers for content, tone, and even nonverbal cues if you're on camera.
And yes, everyone loves to talk about themselves, and so do we!! How about make AI do a little Swappie research beforehand (recent news, values, culture etc.) and come up with a list of insightful questions that we can then answer? This is also a great way of showing your motivation.
You are on the driver’s seat: Don't let AI do the work independently. Use it as a tool to refine your own ideas and experiences. The goal is to present your authentic self in the best possible light.
Fact-check everything: AI does not actually know you and it can sometimes "hallucinate" or provide inaccurate information. Always double-check any facts, company details, or even grammar suggestions before submitting your application.
Be transparent: Be prepared to answer how you used AI to refine your application materials, if we ask.
Focus on the "Why": AI can help you with the "what" (what to put on your resume, what to say), but it can't tell your story. Your personal anecdotes, motivations, and the "why" behind your career choices are what will make you stand out to a human recruiter.
We are not using AI during the interviews (other than note taking), and we hope you will not use it either. We are looking to connect with you on a human-to-human level!
